Anna Kreuziger
1830 - 1916
Mrs.
Anna Kreuziger, widow of the late Mr. Wenzel Kreuziger,
died Saturday, December 30, 1916, at her home at 612 North Second Street. Death came as a result of a four weeks
illness with a complication of diseases with which she was able to contend on
account of the weakness of advanced age, she having nearly reached the age of
87. She
was widowed by the death of her husband August 11, 1916.
Mrs. Kreuziger was born in Landskron,
Bohemia, Germany, February 2, 1830.
Strangely enough, though no blood relationship with her husband existed,
her maiden name was also Kreuziger. She was married to her late husband November
9, 1858, and came to America and to this vicinity nearly fifty years ago. It would in fact be fifty years in April
since they moved onto their first farm in the town of Shields, where they lived
for five years, followed by a residence in the town of Clyman
for nineteen years, in the town of Emmet for nine years, and retirement in the
city for seventeen years.
The
following sons and daughters survive: Mrs. George Engelhardt, Hubbleton; John, Milwaukee; Wenzel and Emil, Clyman; Mary, at home, and Edward, town of Emmet.
Twenty-seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive, as does
one brother, Vincent Kreuziger, this city.
Funeral
services were held at St. Henry's Church to St. Henry's Cemetery. Grandsons of the deceased woman acted as
pallbearers. They were John Engelhardt,
and Albert, George, William, John, and Henry Kreuziger.
