John Heiling, Sr

1842 - 1924

John Heiling, 82, a resident of Watertown for 17 years, passed away at his home at 413 Lincoln Street on January 29, 1924.  Death was due to the ravages of old age.  He was survived by his widow, Barbara, aged 78, and four children, including Mrs. Edward Kasper, Clyman.

Mr. Heiling was born in Pilgersdoft, Hungary, on January 24, 1842.  He came to America in 1891, taking up farming in North Dakota.  About 17 years before his demise he retired from farming and, as his wife’s folks all resided in the Watertown area, this place was chosen to spend their declining years.

Interment was in St. Henry’s Cemetery.
