09 24       MAMMOTH CABBAGE

Mr. A. W. Prochazka [Wenzel], the Bohemian gardener, has presented us with a magnificent head of cabbage – as large as we have ever seen or heard of – which weighed over twenty-eight pounds.  Notwithstanding its enormous size, it is hard and firm and of a fine variety.  No better vegetables can be obtained anywhere than those cultivated at the Bohemian garden.   WD

04 07       LETTUCE AND RADISHES

W. Prohaska [Prochazka] of the Bohemian Garden is already supplying our citizens with lettuce and radishes.  He comes along regularly with his choice spring vegetables, no matter whether the season is early or late.  He is an extensive and successful gardener and takes particular care to procure the best varieties of whatever he cultivates for the market.   WD

07 14       FINE POTATOES

The wide-awake Bohemian gardener, W. Prochaska, has been serving his customers with fine new potatoes for several days.  On the first of July he presented us with a lot, which enabled us to celebrate the 4th with something new and agreeable.   WD
