MRS. JOHN THRONE

DIES IN MILWAUKEE SUNDAY EVENING

Death Occurs at Home of Her Daughter,

Mrs. Victor M. Stamm, Following a Stroke of

Paralysis A Few Days Ago

Watertown friends of Mrs. John Throne, nee Davies, will be shocked to learn of her death which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Victor M. Stamm, 722 Stowell Avenue, Milwaukee Sunday evening, following a stroke of paralysis suffered a few days previous.

But few of her many Watertown friends were aware of her critical condition and therefore her death will be learned with surprise and deep regret.

Mrs. Thorne, whose maiden name was Jennie Davies, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Davies and was born in Paris, Ind. In 1850, and came to Watertown with her parents in 1865, and here she grew to womanhood.  Here she was married September 11, 1878 and has resided in Watertown ever since.  She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Victor M. Stamm, Milwaukee and one son, Daniel G. Throne, Chicago.

The death of Mrs. Throne removes one of nature’s noble women, who was beloved by all who knew her.  A woman who was a distinct and powerful exponent of the beauty and influence of a Christian character who was devoted to her home and family and whose influence for good in the community in which she passed the greater part of her life was always manifest. Always pleased to met her friends with a cheery smile of welcome and ever anxious for the welfare of others, she seemed to forget herself in trying to make others happy and her presence will be sadly missed by those who possessed her love and friendship.

She was a devoted church member and was influenced by the highest Christian standards of life and in her passing this community loses one of its most estimable and esteemed women.  She was a member of Watertown Chapter No. 44 Order of the Eastern Star.

The body will be brought to Watertown Tuesday and taken to her home, 807 Western Avenue.  The funeral will take place on Thursday afternoon with services in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 2 o’clock.

The burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
