Stuhlmacher, Oscar, b. Sep 25, 1895, d. Jan 15, 1915, Sec 9
Watertown Gazette, 01 21 1915
Killed on the
Railway.
Last Friday
morning the body of Oscar Stuhlmacher of this city,
the 19 year old son of Herman Stuhlmacher, 418
Emerald Street, was found alongside the right of way of the Milwaukee railway
near the Oconomowoc depot. Stuhlmacher and another young man boarded a freight train
in this city at about 8:30 o’clock intending to meet another young man at
Oconomowoc. They got into gondola or
coal cars, Stuhlmacher being about three cars ahead
of his partner. This train did not
slacken its speed going through Oconomowoc, and Stuhlmacher’s
partner jumped from the train and injured his nose and got a bad shaking
up. He did not see Stuhlmacher
alight from the train and supposed he continued east. He accordingly went up town and met the other
Watertown boys and later in the morning they came home together, and all were
shocked next day when they learned of Stuhlmacher’s
death. The latter was not run over, but
met his death it is supposed by striking against a switch as he jumped from the
train. His remains were brought to his
home here, and the funeral was held Monday afternoon. [Buried in Oak Hill cemetery]
