DEATH HAS CALLED RESPECTED CITIZEN

 

Mr. Frederick Stoebe, Civil War Veteran, Passed Away Yesterday.

 

Mr. Frederick Stoebe, an old and respected resident of this city, passed away Sunday at the ripe old age of eighty-one years, his death occurring at his late home, 1321 Prospect Street.

 

Although death was not unexpected, the parting nevertheless came as a shock to many.  Mr. Stoebe had been in failing health for several months.

 

The decedent was a native of Germany, in which country he was born on Sept. 11, 1827.  He came to Watertown about fifty years ago and was here continuously with the exception of the time he served as a veteran of the civil war, serving in the 37th Vol. Infantry, enlisting from this city.

 

He was a carpenter by trade which he followed till old age compelled him to retire from active business.

 

The deceased is survived by his widow and four children, Mrs. Albert Eickstead, William Stoebe, this city; Edward Stoebe, Ironwood, Mich.; Mrs. Ernest Stafford, Chicago.

 

Funeral services will be held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, services at the house being conducted by the Rev. A. G. Plappert of the Reform church.  Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
