1947 - 2013
James L. Simon, age 66, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013, at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. David Groth officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Marquardt Health Center or Marquardt Hospice.
James Luther Simon was born on May 30, 1947, in Antigo, the son of Pastor Henry E. and Dorothy (Bublitz) Simon. James attended Morgan Elementary School in Appleton and was a 1967 graduate of the Appleton West High School. On June 24, 1972, he married the former Bonnie L. Bottler at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Jim was employed for 35 years in housekeeping at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown. He also delivered the Jefferson County Advertiser. Jim was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown where he had served as an usher.
Jim was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. He enjoyed trains and travelling with his wife. He loved to talk to people and made many friends.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Bonnie; a brother, Henry A. (Mary) Simon of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Lo Simon of Appleton; as well as nieces, nephews, greatnephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Phillip and Virginia Bottler; brother-in-law, Ernest Bottler.
