Henrietta Seager
1924 - 2006
Henrietta
"Hank" Seager, 81, of Watertown, passed
away on Friday, March 24,
2006, at her home.
Funeral services will
be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at
First Congregational United Church of Christ by VFW Post #3709 Auxiliary,
followed by a church service with the Rev. Stephen Savides
officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and
Cremation Service is serving the family.
Hank was born Aug. 28, 1924, in
Taylorville, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Lillian (Chesbro)
Burchfield. On Oct. 19,
1946, she married F. Michael Garfield and he preceded her in death
on May 31, 1965.
On July 29, 1972,
she married John M. Seager and he preceded her in
death on July 31, 1985.
Hank had been employed at the Jefferson County Zoning Office for 17 years. She was a member of First Congregational
United Church of Christ and the VFW Post #3709 Auxiliary, where she served
three terms as president. Hank served the state VFW as publicity chairman in
1961-62 and received the National Award for Outstanding Publicity Chairman. She
served as National Publicity Director in 1962-63 and 1963-64. She served as
second district president of the VFW in 1963-64 and as state president in
1971-1972. She served on the budget and resolutions committee and had just
served as awards chairman for the state VFW.
Survivors include her
stepchildren, Steven K. (Patricia) Seager and Michael
V. (Cindy) Seager, both of Watertown; her
grandchildren and great-grand-children.
She was further
preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sheila Seager
and her parents.
