Ethel
E. Schultz, 99, of Watertown, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at
Highland House in Watertown.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. James Backus officiating. A private family burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may gather at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mark’s Ladies Aid, Rainbow Hospice, Highland Home Assisted Living or to the charity of one’s choice.
Ethel Elsie Weihert was born on April 7, 1917, in the town of Emmet, the daughter of Arthur and Elsie (nee Saniter) Weihert. She was the valedictorian for the class of 1934 at Watertown High School. Ethel attended Northwestern College in Watertown and UW-Madison prior to her marriage. On March 29, 1937, she married Oscar B. Schultz at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, Ill. Oscar preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1998. Ethel farmed with her husband in the town of Emmet until his death in 1998. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and served on their ladies aid. Ethel had also been a member of the Homemakers Club. She truly loved spending time with her family.
Ethel is survived by three daughters, Jeanne (John) Goeglein, Mary (Richard) Witte and Karen (Lyle) Borth, all of Watertown; one son, William (Pamela) Schultz of Lodi; 11 grandchildren, Robert (Jody) Nass of Hustisford, Sharyl (Eric) Costello of Catonsville, Md., Donald (Amy) Nass of North Port, Fla., Erika (Tom) Howder of Arlington, Va., Amanda Baluyot of Watertown, Richard (Carmel) Witte of San Diego, Calif., Laura (Perry) Pawelka of Middleton, Christopher Borth of Las Vegas, Nev., Deborah Borth of Madison, Joshua (Jill) Schultz of Maple Grove, Minn., Nathan (Leah) Schultz of Rosemount, Minn.; as well as two stepgrandchildren, Jessica (David) Fritz of Milwaukee and Jason (Tracy) Goeglein of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elsie; husband, Oscar; four grandchildren, Randy Nass, Nathan Witte, as well as two in infancy. She is further preceded by a sister, Iona (Harvey) Schlintz.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to all of the exceptional staff at Highland House for their loving care of Ethel the past three years and to Rainbow Hospice for the wonderful care as well.
