Josephine Lafler

1922 - 2005

 

Josephine "Josie" R. Lafler, 83, of Watertown, died August 6, 2005, at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

 

Funeral services will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with the Rev. Rodney Warnecke of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown.

 

The former Josephine Schultz was born July 6, 1922, in Watertown, daughter of Herman and Rose (Zwarra) Schultz. She married William F. Lafler on July 31, 1954, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown.

 

Josie was a housewife and had been employed at the former Highway 16 Furniture. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was active with the Lutheran Pioneers.

 

Josie enjoyed delivering newspapers at Marquardt Manor in Watertown and her hobbies included arts and crafts, sewing, ironing and canning.

 

Surviving are four sons, Dave S. (Vicki Duhr) Schultz of Green Lake, Michael I. (Kathy) Lafler of Watertown, and twin sons, Harry J. (Lori) Lafler and Jerry A. (Marianne) Lafler, both of Watertown; 12 grandchildren, Chris Duhr-Schultz, Meg Duhr-Schultz, Jessica Lafler, Jared (Amanda) Lafler, Ashlee Erickson, Jennifer Lafler, Kara White, Kalee Lafler, Lisa Case, Trish Wickert, Brooke (Jeremy) Hauser and Dana (David) Zahn; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (David) Weise and Delores Schultz, both of Watertown; a brother, Herman (Lillian) Schultz of Watertown.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lafler on May 28, 1992; her parents; brothers and sisters, Percy Schultz, Grace Schultz, Herb Zwarra, Harry Schultz and Clarence Schultz; a stepson, Virgil Lafler; and a stepdaughter, Jo Wickert.

 

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to family and friends, especially Ewald "Starkey" Stark, Pastor Rick Brewer and Hafemeister Funeral Home for all of your help and kindness, and to Marquardt Memorial Manor for your loving care and support for our mother and father.
