Irene J. Fosdal
1921- 2017
Irene J. Fosdal, 96, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at Marquardt Health Center.
Irene was born on Aug. 30, 1921, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of John Emil and Mary (VanHouten) Hazemann. She married Alfred Fosdal on Aug. 8, 1940, in Decora, Iowa, and the two enjoyed 62 years of marriage together until his death in 2002. The two were also blessed with three wonderful children. Irene lived a full life. She worked for Eaton Corp. as a laborer for 21 years, retiring in 1981.
Irene loved traveling; she spent time in many countries over the years. She also loved dancing in her younger years. Her family says that she is most certainly dancing in heaven. Later in life, she enjoyed ceramics and crafting. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by her family.
Irene is survived by her three children, Dennis Fosdal, Jeannette Schuenemann and David (Linda) Fosdal; her 10 grandchildren and her 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Hazemann; and sister, Mildred Piasecki.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband
Alfred; two brothers and three sisters.
A funeral service
will be held at Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home in
Watertown at 11 a.m. on Monday with the Rev. Rodney Warnecke
of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown presiding. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10
a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment
will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.
