WAUPUN
Hildegarde E. Eckhardt, 93, of Waupun, died on Sunday, April 22, 2001, at
the Christian home where she had been a resident for the past year.
Funeral services
will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Werner-Harmsen
Funeral Home in Waupun with the Rev. Michael Bausch officiating. Burial will
follow at 2 p.m. in Oak Hill
Cemetery, Watertown.
Family and friends
may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the
service.
The family requests
memorials be directed to United Methodist Church in Waupun.
The former Hildegarde Krause was born Aug. 12, 1907, in the town of
Milford, Jefferson County, daughter of William and Augusta (Wendt) Krause. She
married, Ervin Eckhardt on Aug. 9, 1928, in
Watertown. He preceded her in death in 1958. The couple lived in Watertown
prior to moving to Theresa, where they owned and operated Golden Pheasant
Tavern for many years.
Hildegarde moved to Waupun in
the 1970s and was a member of United Methodist Church in Waupun. She was an
honorary member of the Plattdeutscher Auxiliary in
Watertown.
Survivors include
two daughters, Shirley (Reuben) Hepp of Watertown and
Ivy (Harlan) Johnson of South Byron; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren;
three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Freitag
of Watertown.
She was further
preceded in death by a granddaughter; a great-grandson; a
great-great-granddaughter; her parents; and two brothers.
