Herbert H. Doering
1925- 2015
Herbert H. Doering,
89, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Marquardt Health
Center.
Herbert was born on Oct. 19, 1925, in
Watertown the son of Herman and Mary (Wolf) Doering. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and
worked as an electrician on the U.S.S Bogue from 1943-1946. After his military service, he was employed as
a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years in Watertown. He married Elizabeth Schneider on Sept. 26,
1964, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Watertown. Herby loved to joke and play with the children
along his mail route, teaching them silly songs as they walked along. He had a quiet, but witty personality and a
unique sense of humor. He was an
outdoorsman and loved to putter around his work bench. He was a dedicated husband and father.
Herbert is survived by his wife
Elizabeth of Watertown; daughter Heidi (Dean) Grozdic
of Berwyn, Ill.; two grandchildren Angelika and Alexander Grozdic.
He is also survived by a number of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his
parents, brothers Tom and John and sister Ruth.
Memorials in Herbert’s name to the
Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Watertown would be appreciated.
A funeral service will be held at 11
a.m. on Tuesday at Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home with
Pastor Steve Aust presiding. Visitation will be at
the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Oak Hill
Cemetery.
