(1944)

Miss Pitterle and T. A. Murkowski Wed Here Today

St. Henry’s Catholic Church was the scene of a pretty wedding on November 9, 1944, at 9 o’clock when Miss Margaret Pitterle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Pitterle (Anna Frodl), became the bride of Thomas A. Murkowski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Murkowski of Athens.

The nuptial high mass was performed by the Rev. Mark J. Mueller.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a velveray satin gown with a long train.  Her long tulle veil fell from a tiara of lace net.  She carried a shower bouquet of pink roses and white pompons. She wore a string of pearls a gift of the groom.

Miss Eleanor Pitterle, cousin of the bride, was the maid of honor. She wore a pink taffeta gown and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and white pompons.   Miss Jane Murkowski, sister of the groom and Miss Helen Peirick, cousin of the bride, were the bridesmaids.  They wore aqua and pink taffeta gowns, respectively.   They carried bouquets of pink carnations and white pompons.  All the attendants wore matching headdresses.

Anthony Murkowski, brother of the groom, acted as best man. Elmer Pitterle, brother of the bride, and Bernard Riedl, cousin of the bride, were the other attendants.

Ushers were Lawrence Klecker and Raymond Peirick.

The groom was a former member of the U.S. Army, having served overseas in the Mediterranean theater.  The bride was formerly employed at the J. C. Penney Co.
