Eugene R. Weidensee

 

1934 - 2019

 

Eugene Richard Weidensee of Watertown, age 84, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

 

Eugene was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Milwaukee. He joined the United States Army during the Korean War, being honorably discharged in November 1955.  On Sept. 10, 1955, Eugene married the love of his life, Joan Moran.  Together they owned a farm in Granton before moving their family to Watertown in 1980.  The family then joined St. Henry’s Parish.  Eugene worked for many years at the Watertown Daily Times.

 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan; his nine children, Catherine (Michael) Fagan, Christopher Weidensee, Leslie Weidensee (m. Ray Paul Goerig), Richard (Rebecca Schille) Weidensee, Jennifer Weidensee (m. David Focardi), Rochelle Weidensee (m. Patrick Jung), Matthew Weidensee, Martin Weidensee (m. Candice Eckstrom) and Karen Weidensee; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by four siblings, Richardine Mishler, Ralph Weidensee, Kenneth Weidensee and Kathryn Schwocert, and many other relatives and friends.

 

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Kathrine Weidensee, and three siblings, Patricia Peachy, Donald Weidensee and Earl Weidensee.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Henry’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with Father Patrick Wendler officiating.  Burial with the military honor guard will follow the service at St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery.

 

If desired, memorials are suggested to St. Henry’s Catholic Church.
