John J. Sabourin

 

1932- 2019

 

John J. Sabourin, 86, of Watertown, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, at his home surrounded by family.  John was born on Aug. 27, 1932, in Milwaukee, the son of Joseph and Eleanore (Reichard) Sabourin.  John married Mary Hillebrand on Oct. 26, 1957, and the couple were blessed with 61 years of marriage before her death on Dec. 26, 2018.  

 

John proudly served our country in the United States Army for two years before being honorably discharged for being wounded by mortar fire in the Korean War.  Medals he received were Purple Heart, UNSvc- National Defense SVC and Good Conduct Medal. John was a volunteer at St. Vincent’s DePaul and Marquardt.  In his free time, he enjoyed shooting pool and playing cards, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

 

John is survived by his sons Paul Sabourin of Montello and Michael Sabourin of Hartland; grandchildren Nick, Adam (Rachel), Aaron (Melissa), Amisha and Tayler; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers; and two sisters. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; loving daughter Christine; six brothers and two sisters.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Miro Szynal presiding.  Visitation will take place at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.  John will be laid to rest at St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

 

Memorials in John’s honor to St. Henry Catholic Church would be appreciated.
