Merlin Roberts

1941 - 2007

 

 

Merlin “Butch” J. Roberts, 66, of Watertown, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2007, at Golden Living Center in Watertown following a lingering illness.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with the Rev. Brian J. Wilk officiating.

 

Visitation will be held Tuesday at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

 

Memorials are suggested to the charity of one's choice.

 

Butch was born in Fayette, Iowa, on March 2, 1941, son of Howard Sr. and Clara (Gorman) Roberts. On July 7, 1962, he married the former Phyllis Morgan at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, Iowa.

 

Butch was a 1960 graduate of Fayette High School in Iowa. He had been employed at Waukesha Foundry in Waukesha and Watertown, and was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown.

 

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed yard work and attending auto auctions.

 

Butch is survived by his wife, Phyllis Roberts of Watertown; three sons, David (Jennifer Pischer) Roberts of Watertown, Steven (Jennifer Schuett) Roberts of Watertown and Brian (Jennifer Alexandrowski) of Lake Isabella, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Andrew, Michael, Michael, Christopher, David, Kendric and Kaleb; two sisters, Mary Anne (Roger) Rolfing of Winona, Minn., and Donna (Richard) Anthes of Oelwein, Iowa; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Howard Roberts Jr. and Edward Roberts.
