John C. Novotny Jr.

 

1928 - 2017

 

John C. Novotny Jr., 88, of Watertown, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 4, 2017, surrounded by his family.

 

He was born March 25, 1928, to John and Grace (Hoefs) Novotny.  He was united in marriage to Margaret “Peg” Surdick June 12, 1948, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown.  John owned and operated Novotny Oil Co., hauled milk and farmed.  He was a former active member of the Knights of Columbus.  

 

John is survived by his children, Rose (Fred) Zastrow of Watertown, Mary Blaisdell of Cornell, John III (Laurie) Novotny of Tomahawk, Grace (Ed) Wegner of Watertown, Robert Novotny of Kiel, Richard (Renee) Novotny of Watertown and Edward (Tammy) Novotny of Watertown; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Peg, son Joseph Novotny, daughters Cathy and Linda Novotny, son-in- law Keith Blaisdell, grandson Anthony Blaisdell, great-grandson Mason Novotny, brother Charles Novotny and sisters Frances Arndt and Henrietta Novotny.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Patrick Wendler presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Henry Catholic Cemetery.  

 

Dad and the entire family would like to thank son-in-law Fred Zastrow who, except for a few times, visited Pa every day.  Also, the family would like to thank Golden Living for their excellent care they gave Ma and Pa when they were there and the doctors and nursing staff at Watertown Regional for their care.
