Julia McCarthy

1870 - 1949

 

Mrs. Con McCarthy, 79, a life long resident of Watertown, residing at 305 West Main Street, died November 7, 1949 at her home following a four day illness. Her husband's name was Cornelius, but he always used the name "Con."

 

She was the former Julia Haberkorn, a pioneer family of this section.  She was born here Feb. 15, 1870, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Haberkorn. She was married in St. Henry's in 1889 to Mr. McCarthy.

 

Mrs. McCarthy was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the Rosary and Altar society and the Pitterie-Beaudoin post auxiliary, American Legion, of which she wan a Gold Star Mother member.

 

The funeral took place in St. Bernard's Church, the Rev. James Gailagan, C.S.C., officiated. Interment was in St. Bernard's cemetery.
