Robert Lessner
1930 - 2008
Robert A. Lessner, age 77,
Watertown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc due to complications of a
stroke.
Bob was born on July 4, 1930, in Watertown, the son of
George and Irene (West) Lessner. He graduated from
West Division High School in Milwaukee in 1948. On June 17, 1950, he married
the former Shirley Schultz at St. Henry Catholic Church. Bob had been employed
at Kusel Dairy Equipment, Brandt
Automatic Cashier, Henzey Company and he had been
a State Farm agent in Watertown for 30 years. He was a member of St. Henry
Catholic Church where he was an usher, served on the parish council and had
been president of the Home and School Association.
He had also been a member of Jaycees, Toastmasters and
past president of the Watertown Baseball Association. He coached baseball for
20 years and was one of the founders of the Watertown Archery Club and the
local stroke support group. Bob was a supporting member of Ducks Unlimited,
Whitetails Unlimited and Chickens Unlimited. As a businessman he sponsored many
bowling, baseball, volleyball, softball and basketball teams. Bob had served as
a team captain for the building of Chamberland Park. He was an avid hunter,
fisherman, bowler, gardener, woodworker and Packer, Brewer, Badger and Gosling
fan.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his children,
Michael (Valerie) Lessner of Watertown, Christine
Preston of Rockton, Ill., Richard (Sonya) Lessner of
McFarland, Mark (Lisa) Lessner and Patrice (John)
Walter, both of Watertown; his grandchildren, Todd (Jodi) Lessner,
James Connelly, Ryan (Emily) Lessner, Alisha
Connelly, Justin (fiancee Sara), Jessica, Krista,
Amanda, Hillary and Joseph Lessner, Caleb and Ethan
Walter and Robert Lessner; great-grandchildren, Dylan
Connelly, Payton, Lauren, Camryn and Brady Lessner;
other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St.
Henry Catholic Church with Father Brian Wilk officiating. Family burial will be
in St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery in Johnson Creek. Family and friends
may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schmutzler-Vick
Funeral Home and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Henry
Catholic Church, AngelsGrace Hospice or Rock River
Rescue would be appreciated.
