Helen K. Kornacki

1917 - 2011

 

Helen K. Kornacki, 94, of Watertown, passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2011, at Marquardt Memorial Manor in Watertown.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Brian Wilk presiding.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

 

Relatives and friends may call at the church to pay their respects on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

 

Memorials, in Helen’s name, may be given to the church.

 

The former Helen Katherine Grubb was born in the village of Briggsville on Feb. 15, 1917, daughter of Frank J. and Annie (Leasky) Grubb.  On June 19, 1935, she married Joseph S. Kornacki at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the village of Briggsville.  He preceded her in death on May 8, 1976.

 

Helen had been employed in the housekeeping department at the former Beverly Terrace Nursing Home in Watertown for over 20 years.  She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Confraternity.  Helen loved and enjoyed baby-sitting her grandchildren, traveling and flower gardening.

 

Survivors include her seven children, Donald (Joyce) Kornacki of Watertown, Shirley Grosskopf of Johnson Creek, John (Joyce) Kornacki of Watertown, Helen (Edward) Neitzel of Madison, Mary Albright of Delavan, Patricia (Peter) Laehr of Watertown and Joanne (Dale) Roets of Watertown; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Helen was also preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Kenneth Grosskopf; three sisters; two brothers; and a half brother.
