Lorraine Hertel

1929 - 2009

 

Lorraine C. Hertel, 79, of Watertown, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

 

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Brian Wilk officiating.

 

Visitation will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.  Memorials may be given to St. Henry Catholic Church or the American Diabetes Association, if desired.

 

Lorraine Clarice Petit was born in Rockford, Ill. on Aug. 25, 1929, the daughter of Charles and Alice (Erb) Petit.  On Oct. 23, 1954, she married William “Bill” Hertel in Rockford.

 

Lorraine attended West High School in Rockford.  She was an Avon representative for 39 years, and was the treasurer of Watertown Township.  She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary Post 3709, and a former member of the Watertown Turner's Auxiliary.  She enjoyed sewing and baking.

 

Lorraine is survived by her husband Bill of Watertown; two sons, Mark E. (Jane) Hertel of Fort Atkinson and Paul Richard (Carol) Hertel of Belleville, Ill; two grandchildren, Ashley and Sara Hertel; a brother, Richard (Pat) Petit of Washington; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Mary and Dennis, in infancy.
