Francis J. Heiden

1932 - 2006

 

 

Francis "Gabby" J. Heiden, 73, of Watertown, died October 28, 2006, at his home following a lingering illness.

 

Gabby was born on Dec. 10, 1932, in Watertown, son of John and Mary (Nistler) Heiden.  He attended Watertown High School. Gabby served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1953 aboard the USS Harold J. Ellison. Upon discharge he entered employment at Brandt Automatic Cashier Company until his retirement in 1992. He had also been employed part time at Watertown Sod Company.

 

On March 7, 1960, he married the former Barbara Tester. Gabby was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. He had been involved with Cub Scouts and Brownies at Lincoln School for many years, and he was a member of the machinist union.

 

Gabby was an active Packer fan and he especially enjoyed attending sporting events involving his children and grandchildren.

 

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three sons, Daniel (Robin) Heiden of Watertown, Michael (Norma) Heiden of Ripon and Joseph (Carmen) Heiden of Watertown; a daughter, Christine (fiance Doug Hanson) Hensler of Watertown; eight grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Jordan, Amber, Eric, Nickolas, Brett and Angela Heiden; three stepgrandchildren, Roger, Amy and Jennifer Davis; three great-grandchildren, Tony, Micah and Madison Heiden; two sisters, Dorothy (Charles) Sylvester of Franklin, N.C., and Loretta (Walter) Stewart of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grand-daughter, Jamie Michelle Hensler.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Family burial will be in the parish cemetery.

 

The Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.

Barbara A. Heiden

 

1937 - 2015

 

Barbara A. Heiden, age 78, Watertown, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at UW Hospital in Madison.

 

Funeral services will be on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Schmutz-ler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service with the Rev. John Fritts of Marquardt Village officiating.  Family burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery.  Family and friends may call on Sunday after noon at the funeral home.

 

Barbara Ann Tester was born on Oct. 24, 1937, in London, the daughter of Martin F. and Augusta W. (Hahn) Tester.  She graduated from high school on June 8, 1956.  On March 7, 1960, she married Francis Heiden at St. Henry Catholic Church.

 

Barbara had been employed by Allard Express and she retired from Watertown Memorial Hospital.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

She is survived by her children Daniel (Robin), Michael (Norma) Christine (Doug) and Joseph (Carmen) Heiden; grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Jordan, Amber, Eric, Angie, Nick and Brett Heiden; great-grandchildren, Tony, Micah, Alandra, Abagail, Matthew, Madison and Lainey; a brother, Erwin “Bud” (Shirley) Tester; a sister-in-law, Sylvia; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles (Dorothy) Sylvester; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis; a granddaughter, Jamie Michele Hensler, parents, two brothers and five sisters.

 

Barbara’s family wishes to thanks the staffs at Watertown Regional Medical Center, UW Hospital in Madison and Marquardt Manor for their wonderful care.
