Kristi Haeger
1962 - 2005
Kristi
Marie (Rhodes) Haeger, 41, of Watertown, died February
3, 2005, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a six month battle
with cancer.
A funeral Mass was
held at St. Henry’s Church with Rev. Bernard Rott and Rev. Thomas Marr of St.
Bernard's Catholic Church officiating.
In
lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kristi Rhodes-Haeger Nursing Scholarship being established in her memory;
the Rock River Free Clinic; Rainbow Hospice; University of Wisconsin
Comprehensive Cancer Research Center; or the charity of one's choice.
The Hafemeister Funeral Home of Watertown was in charge of
arrangements.
The
former Kristi Rhodes was born November 16, 1963, in Watertown, daughter of
Joseph O. and Susan M. (Turke) Rhodes. She married her high school sweetheart,
Daniel Clarence Haeger, on March 10, 1984, at St.
Henry’s.
Kristi
was a 1982 graduate of Watertown High School and a 1988 graduate of Madison
Area Technical College in Watertown, receiving an associate degree in nursing.
In 2000, she graduated from Viterbo College and
received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
Kristi
had been employed as a registered nurse for 16 years in various fields of
nursing, at Watertown Area Health Services in the department of med/surg,
obstetrics and home health, and at Turke Family Medicine for three and one-half
years. In the past, Kristi had also been a CPR instructor, an instructor for
prenatal classes, and a volunteer at the Rock River Free Clinic. She retired
from nursing at the end of July 2004 due to illness. She reminisced many times
about her patients and how she missed them.
Kristi
had been active in coaching volleyball at St. Henry’s School and River City
Volleyball Club in the past. She also served St. Henry's Parish as Home and
School president and on the athletic board and parish council. Kristi was also
instrumental in developing the Market Day program for the school.
Kristi
had also performed for a number of years with the "Nuns of Fun" to
raise money for charity.
During
the Christmas holidays, Kristi enjoyed a trip with her family to California.
The
family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Turke Family Medicine,
Watertown Family Practice, the many associates who were involved in her care at
Watertown Area Health Services, and the great staff of Rainbow Hospice. We
would also especially like to thank all the great people from the University of
Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, the Comprehensive Cancer Center, and all of
our "extended family" for your prayers and support.
