Darlene Fendt

1928 - 2006

 

Darlene L. Fendt, 78, of Watertown, passed away on June 22, 2006, at Beverly Terrace.

 

Funeral services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

 

Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.

 

Darlene was born on Feb. 19, 1928, in Bellevue, Iowa, to Marjorie (Haynor) and Michael Wanderscheid. The family moved to Darlington in 1933 and she attended Holy Rosary Grade School and graduated from Darlington High School in 1945. Darlene attended Whitewater State Teachers College and graduated with a bachelor of education degree in business in 1949. For 37 years she taught business subjects in Wisconsin high schools including 28 years in Watertown. She had been the adviser for the Orbit and for several years she was the Orbit's financial adviser. Due to poor health, she retired in 1986.

 

She married Joseph Fendt on Feb. 8, 1969, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Darlene was a charter member of the Ladies of Elks at Watertown Elks Lodge No. 666, she was very active in the Elks. She was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Darlene was an avid card and domino player.

 

Darlene was the last member of her immediate family. Survivors include a stepson- in-law, Joseph Matusinec Jr. of Oshkosh; a sister-in-law, Margaret Wanderscheid; and many cousins and friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph on May 9, 1996; a stepdaughter, Jolene Matusinec; a brother, Robert Wanderscheid; a nephew, Michael Wanderscheid; a godson, Paul Jaerling; and a sister-in-law, Marie (George) Bush.
