Anna Elgas

1851 - 1931

 

Mrs. Anna Elgas, route 2, Jefferson, passed away at her farm home January 2, 1931, at the age of 79 years.

 

Anna Riedle (Riedl) was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Engelbert) Riedl and was born in the town of Ixonia, March 6, 1851. She was married to Jacob Elgas in 1880 at St. Henry's Church. Since her marriage she had been a resident of Jefferson. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Christian Mothers Society.

 

Mrs. Elgas is survived by two sons, John and Leo Elgas of Jefferson; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Pfister and Mrs. Edward Herde of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Fred Muschler of Janesville, one brother, Michael Riedle (Riedl) of Watertown. Her husband passed away seven years ago and two children also preceded her in death.

 

Funeral services were held in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jefferson, and interment took place in the Catholic cemetery.
