Ellen Dowd

1874 - 1946

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Dowd, widow of James E. Dowd, were held in St Henry’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Dean F. X. Schwinn officiating. Burial was in St. Henry's Cemetery.

 

The body was brought to Watertown and taken to the Boyle Funeral Home.   Branch 120, Catholic Knights of Wisconsin of which Mrs. Dowd was a member, met at the funeral home for the customary prayers.

 

Mrs. Dowd died in St. Joseph's hospital at Beaver Dam after a short Illness. She was the former Ellen Hilker and was born Feb. 4, 1874 in the town of Shields, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hilker. She was married to Mr. Dowd Nov. 27, 1895. Her husband for many years operated a livery here. She continued to make her home in Watertown after his death until 1937 when she moved to Beaver Dam.

 

Mrs. Dowd was a member of St Patrick’s Altar Society in Beaver Dam and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.
