Charles P. Dowd

1874 - 1916

After an illness of two years duration with lung trouble, Charles P. Dowd answered the call of death in the family home, 215 West Main Street, this morning. 

 

Mr. Dowd was a son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Patrick Dowd and was born in the town of Portland forty-two years ago. 

 

He removed to Watertown fourteen years ago, during which time he was employed as a farm machinery salesman until taken sick.  For the past nine months he had been confined to bed. 

 

Mr. Dowd is survived by his widow and one daughter, Marie Dowd, by a former marriage.  Seven brothers and five sisters also survive , the death of Mr. Dowd being the first out of a family of thirteen children:  Albert Dowd, James Dowd, Watertown; John Dowd, Shields; George Dowd, Moses Dowd, Portland; Robert Dowd, Melrose, Minnesota; Thomas Dowd, Minneapolis; Margaret Dowd, Mrs. John Fallon, Mrs. Peter Feberty, Beloit; Mrs. Ella Krokow, Oshkosh; Mrs. Dennis J. Kelly, Watertown. 

 

The funeral will take place on Friday morning with services in St. Henry’s church at 9 o’clock. 

 

The burial will be in Waterloo, reaching there by team.
