James W. Dehnert, Sr

1949 - 2009

 

 

SHEBOYGAN - James W. Dehnert, 59, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at his home in Sheboygan.

 

Funeral services for Jim will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Father Thomas Marr of St. Bernard's Catholic Church officiating.  Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Henry's Cemetery with graveside military rites by the Watertown Veterans Council.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.

 

Jim was born in Racine on Dec. 14, 1949, son of Merlyn and Beverly (Whiteley) Dehnert.  He was a 1968 graduate of Watertown High School.

 

Jim was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic.  He later worked in production at Wis-Pak and U S Chemical.  He was an avid Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Tony Stewart and NASCAR fan, and enjoyed computers and watching golf.  In his younger years, Jim also liked to play baseball.

 

Jim is survived by his mother, Beverly Dehnert of Watertown; a daughter, Jamie (Kurt) Van Straten, and a son, James R. Dehnert, both of Sheboygan; a sister, Linda (Charlie) Poppert of Elgin, Ill.; a brother, Tom (Dawn) Dehnert of Watertown; a sister, Denise (Josh) Folcik of Waukesha; a half-sister, Pam Mee of Arizona; a half-brother, Jack (Pauline) Dehnert of Pennsylvania; a brother-in-law, Ray Sherry; a grandson, Eric Van Straten; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and two birds, Jr. and Petey.

 

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Merlyn, and a brother, Jerry Dehnert.
