Leonard H. DeTroye
1932 - 2013
Leonard H. DeTroye, 81, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Zinzendorf Hall in Watertown.
Leonard was born on April 20, 1932, in Greenbush, the son of Peter and Francis (Dierlien) DeTroye. He was a graduate of Kiel High School. He married Delores Racette on May 12, 1951, in Plymouth. Leonard worked for Asplundh Tree Company for 28 years. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and had served as the Loyal Governor of the Watertown Moose Lodge. He was an AA sponsor for many years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and grilling. Leonard also enjoyed playing sheepshead and dancing to big band music.
Survivors include his three daughters, Michelle (John) Pauli of Williams Bay, Lynn Uphus of Watertown and Cynthia (Brian) Veldhuizen of Silverthorne, Colo.; son Brian (Malu) DeTroye of Goose Creek, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Annette Mathes of New Holstein; he is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores, son Jeffrey, grandson Christopher, four sisters and one brother. Memorials to St. Henry Catholic Church would be appreciated.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church with the Msgr. Daniel Ganshert presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
