Anthony M. Chingway

1930 - 2007

 

Anthony M. Chingway, 76, of Watertown, died January 10, 2007, at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Rott officiating.  Burial in the parish cemetery.

 

Family and friends may call to pay their respects on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service and on Saturday after 10 a.m. at the church.  A rosary will be recited on Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rainbow Hospice or St. Henry Catholic Church would be appreciated.

 

Anthony was born on Jan. 11, 1930, in Neopit, son of Antoine and Catherine (Gordon) Chingway.  On Oct. 7, 1950, he married the former Margaret Eichstead at St. Henry's Rectory.

 

Tony had been employed at Lindberg Hevi-Duty for 30 years.  He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and its usher society.  Tony had been unit chairman for Local No. 494 IBEW for 18 years.  He had been a member of the Watertown Conservation Club and Tuesday Night Pool League for Popper's II.

 

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Kathleen (William) Bailey of McFarland and Mary Ellen (Jeffrey) Hale of Hartland; grandchildren, Dawn (Richie) Hauge of McFarland, Jessica Hale of Pennsylvania and Derek Hale of Wales; great-grandchildren, Chevie, Joey, Bailey, Jonathon and Mariela; a sister, Pearl (Arnold) Bigboy; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; a sister, Adeline Powless; and four brothers, Joseph, Francis, Ira and Robert Lawrence.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Rainbow Hospice for their compassion and care.

 

 

Margaret P. Chingway

 

February 15, 1933 - May 25, 2020

 

Margaret P. Chingway, of Watertown, age 87, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020 at her home. Margaret was born on February 15, 1933 in Watertown to Clarence and Leona (Petrich) Eicksteadt. She attended Watertown High School. On October 7, 1950 she married Anthony Chingway at St. Henry parsonage. She was a member of St. Henry Church, Christian Mother and Altar Confraternity, Catholic Women’s Club, Watertown Chapter of Church Women United, and a volunteer money counter for St. Henry. She was also a member of the Watertown Senior & Community Center. She was proud to be a life-long resident of Watertown. Margaret was very devoted to all of her family. She will be greatly missed.

 

Margaret is survived by her daughter Kathleen Bailey of Madison and son-in-law Jeffrey Hale of Lake Mills. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Dawn (Rich) Hauge of McFarland, Jessica (Curtis) Blackthorne of Yuba, CA, and Derek (Shannon) Hale of Oconomowoc; six great-grandchildren: Chevie, Joseph, Bailey, Jonathan, Mariela, and Madeline; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Anthony Chingway, daughter, Mary Ellen Hale, her parents, son-in-law William Bailey, two brothers; Lawrence Eicksteadt and Richard Eicksteadt, sister, Ruth Chingway, nephew, Steven Chingway, and great-nephew, Antonio Peralta.

 

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 11 a.m. at ST. HENRY CATHOLIC CHURCH with Father Miro Szynal officiating. Burial to follow at St. Henry Cemetery.
