Mary R. Beaver
1915 - 2009
Mary R. Beaver,
93, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Watertown Regional
Medical Center.
A Mass of
Christian burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church
in Watertown with Father Brian Wilk officiating. Burial
will be in St. Henry Catholic Cemetery, Watertown.
Relatives and
friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Monday from 10 a.m.
until the time of the Mass.
Memorials may
be directed to St. Henry Catholic Church.
The former Mary
Rosalie Miller was born in Watertown on Nov. 24, 1915, daughter of Robert and
Emilie (Roffeis) Miller. On May 25,
1939, she married Howard
J. Beaver at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown.
Mary attended
St. Henry Catholic Grade School and was a graduate of Watertown High
School. She had been employed by the
Watertown Unified School District as a secretary in the guidance department.
Mary was a
member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Catholic Women's Club and Christian
Mothers. She was also a member of the
Watertown Ladies Elks, Saturday Club and the Watertown Dance Club. She volunteered with the Meals on Wheels
Program, Watertown Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and at the Watertown
Senior Center.
Mary enjoyed
music, books, sewing, knitting and bowling, and was an excellent cook. She was also a saxophone player, an avid card
player, golfer and Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packer fan.
Mary is
survived by a daughter, Victoria (Stephen) West of Iowa City, Iowa; three sons,
Jack of Eau Claire, Jim (Kathleen) of Plymouth and Thomas (Wendy) of Iowa City;
eight grandchildren, Marc Beaver, Greg Beaver, Rob Beaver, Jennifer Beaver, Dr.
Matt (fiancée, Angela Wilson) Bauer, Andrew (Meg) West, Ryan West and Megan
West; a great-grandson, Chase Bauer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, on Dec. 24, 1993; a son,
Richard James Beaver; four brothers; and two sisters.
Mary was the
last member of her immediate family.
