Elizabeth Barrett

1926 - 2005

 

 

Elizabeth "Betty" J. Barrett, 78, of Watertown, died January 13, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.

 

A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Henry’s with the Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial was in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, Watertown.

 

Memorials were suggested to St. Henry’s.

 

The former Elizabeth Vollmer was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Crivitz, daughter of Fred and Ella (Valley) Vollmer. She married Harold F. Barrett on Aug. 30, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Crivitz.

 

Betty graduated from Crivitz High School in 1943 and attended Business College in Green Bay. She later did office work in Green Bay and at Briggs and Stratton in Milwaukee.

 

Betty was a member of St. Henrys in Watertown, the Catholic Woman's Club, Christian Mothers and was an usher. She did volunteer work and was an election officer in Watertown.

 

Betty enjoyed knitting, reading and crafts. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

 

SURVIVORS:

 

Survivors include her husband, Harold F. Barrett of Watertown; three children, James (Ruthann) Barrett of Upper St. Clair, Pa., Mary Lou (James) Krueger and Joanne (Edward) Schmidt, both of Watertown; seven grandchildren, Travis (Beth) Schmidt, Brian (Erin) Schmidt, Susan (Paul) Tater, Matthew Krueger, Kathryn Krueger, Allison Schmidt and Jennifer Krueger; two great- grandchildren, Alexis and Jacob Tater; two sisters-in- law, Helen Vollmer of West Bend and Edie Barrette; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

PRECEDED IN DEATH:

 

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Isabelle Vollmer, Jean May Vollmer and Marianne McCormick; and two brothers, James and Melvin "Bud" Vollmer.
