“On that day, a shoot shall
sprout from the stump of Jesse,
and from his roots a bud shall
blossom." Isaiah 11:1
Seventh graders in the news. Congratulations to Jennifer Brebeck. She won last week's “Where in Wisconsin Is
Jessica Doyle?” Mrs. Doyle mailed to
school her prizes which included a family pass to Wisconsin historic sites, a
set of Wisconsin quarters, a Wisconsin key chain, and an Executive Residence
tote bag and notepad. Even a “Cow Pie”
candy treat! Jenny won by being pulled
in a random drawing of all students who sent in correct answers to the contest
mentioned above. Alexander Denault this
week received word from the Daily Times
that he won third prize in a recent story writing contest sponsored by our
local paper. You will see his creation in the paper in the near future. Speaking of creative writing, Mrs. Harms, the
middle school language teacher, is offering an extra-curricular club to the seventh and eighth grade classes that
will begin next week. Youngsters will
meet during their lunch break two times a week and have fun cultivating their
word imaginations.
If your child has a flair for the dramatic, Mr.
Weissenborn is inviting them to participate in the Christmas Eve “program”
shared at the 4:00 pm Mass. Practices
will be on Tuesday, December 14, at 6:00
pm, Saturday the 18th at 10:00 am, and Wednesday, the 22nd
at 6:00 pm. He’ll be sending information
in a note soon, but if you have questions call the parish office at
920-261-7273 and ask for Todd.
Some of the outside supervisors have concerns about
the number of children seemingly without proper
winter outer clothing, including
hats and gloves. They are asking
parents to please be conscious of this.
If you are quite sure you provided them and they have mysteriously
disappeared, check the two Lost and Found blue boxes. One is in the Parish Center (gym) lobby and
the other is in the corridor to the cafeteria stairs just beyond the office.
You probably saw the picture of the eighth grade class
in the Daily Times with the
information about the 1200 items
collected in our annual drive Thanksgiving Season drive for the St. Vincent
DePaul Society. That’s an average of eight items PER STUDENT. Pretty generous . . . indeed. Thank you to those many of you who
participated. God will bless you.
On this note of caring for others, six packages with
items donated by you have been sent this late fall to our troops in
Afghanistan. A former St. Henry student,
Chris Penza, has been sharing with his buddies treasures like magazines, gum,
candy, socks, Spaghettios, and Girl Scout cookies. Again, THANK YOU!
An
important favor to ask of you from one of the subcommittees of our Enrollment
Management Team, an offshoot of our Education Commission. With this newsletter you will receive a very short questionnaire. Could you/would you please take a little time
and answer the few questions on it. It
would be great if both mom and dad did.
If you would rather type than write, just look at the questions and send
an email with your responses to Mrs. Dawn Keller at ripsnort@gdinet.com. Your responses will help, I’m sure. The subcmte. would really appreciate having
them by Tuesday, the 7th so they can begin compiling. Thank you so
much.
