“The Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.”

                Thessalonians 2: 3

With today’s envelope you will find a parent-teacher conference note with the day, date, and time of your conferences.  Please look it over carefully and return the bottom portion Monday.  Thank you!  You will also find a sheet in your family envelope entitled “Parents . . . Please help our School” in this packet. For those who do online shopping anyway, it’s a way to bring a little cash into school.  There are little prizes for children who bring back a slip saying that you went online as instructed and emailed invitations to at least 9 family and friends about the program.  It’s STRICTLY volunteer; please don’t feel pressured.  A much more major fund-raiser is the Kringle-Kraemer Cheese one whose materials will also be found in the envelope this week.  It is one the Home and School Association has sponsored for a number of years now because people have really liked the products.  And with people seeing other family members around the Thanksgiving holiday, it’s a great opportunity to ask them if they too would like to order items for themselves or as gifts for others.  Please do take the time to look over those materials.  Probably quite a few of you will decide to participate.  Thanks if you do.  Orders and money due November 29th; delivery will be Friday, December 10th.

Concern has been expressed by some parents about the safety of our parking lot due to a few drivers not following our procedures as spelled out in the Handbook under “Procedures ~ School Hours – Arrival and Dismissal.”  “In the morning, if all the children are ready to disembark and you would not slow up the line behind you, you may stop as you turn toward the Cady Street driveway and the children should go immediately to the sidewalk along the Parish Center.  Otherwise, please park in the designated areas. Children should carefully walk to the safety patrol on duty and let him/her cross them over the Parish Center sidewalk.  Children left off in the southwest corner of the lot should cross the “imaginary road” with the patrol stationed to do that.  At the end of the school day all vehicles should park (in the designated areas).  Drivers should come and escort youngsters in 4K-grade 2 to their vehicles, using the path marked out by the safety patrols.  No one should simply stop their car in the exit route and wait for children to come to them during the 2:55 p.m. – 3:10 p.m. busy time.”  Patrols have also shared a problem that some children are running back and forth from the playground equipment area to the cars and back again during the busy, dangerous time after school.  Please make it clear to your youngsters that once they come to your vehicle, they may not go back until all patrols gone and it’s perfectly safe and you are there to supervise.  We’ve been blessed with decades of safety; we’d like that record to continue!

Memory verse for November 13- 17

“He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible god, the firstborn of all creation.”          St. Paul to the Colossians 1: 15

Mrs. Harms, our eighth grade homeroom teacher, received some very good news a few weeks ago.  She was awarded a grant by the Educational Foundation of Watertown for a subscription for “brainpop,” a  $195 value.

May I quote from the letter she received:  “Our selection committee was impressed with the description of the project/materials requested and the plans to use this both now and in the future.”  Great job, Mrs. Harms.  Thank you, Ed. Foundation!
