“All things are possible for
God.” Mark 10:27
October 9, 2009
Dear Moms and Dads,
11:30 dismissal day Monday, October 12 for
grades K-8! (The 4K afternoon class does
meet.)
The grade 1-8 trip to the Pettit Center is
next Friday. Teachers asked that I
remind you that all grades, including the kindergartners and the 4K’ers who
stay for the afternoon, need to bring a cold lunch that day. The grades 1-8 children’s lunches should be
in paper bags with their name and grade on it.
A juice box would make the best option for the beverage since after
lunch at the Pettit everything will be thrown in trash barrels. The Center wants us to remind you that
children should dress warmly because they keep the temperature in the low
50’s. They recommend loose-fitting
pants, sweater or jacket, mittens or gloves, knit cap or helmet, regular socks,
and whatever inhalers and/or medication might be necessary. All good suggestions. Should be a really fun morning.
On Tuesday we are having a special
“Heritagefest” here in honor of St. Henry.
We never get to celebrate our patron saint on his July 13 feast day so
we decided to remedy that. Given his
German background, we figured October 13 would be the second best day to do
that. And we will!
Since St. Bernard School has graciously
invited us to their Irish fun on March 17 – a tribute to their parish’s Irish
heritage – we wanted to reciprocate. So
they are coming over for morning Mass and a presentation on German folk music
and dance in the Parish Center after.
Mass is at 8:45 because they need time to get over here; the “Pintsize
Polka” event will follow. You are
welcome to join us, of course. The
youngsters have learned a song in German in music class they’ll sing, and they
will enjoy a German-themed hot lunch Tuesday in the spirit of the day. Art classes are being introduced to some
German artists, and some teachers will be sharing photographs and tidbits about
the country of our parish’s first founders.
Children are encouraged to wear clothing with St. Henry on it if they
have some. St. Henry, pray for us! Thank you for your help over these last 155
years.
Sure hoping some of you will be
participating in the Diocesan Conference on Catholic Schools on Saturday, the
17th at the Bishop O’Connor Center. It
needs our diocese’s best minds and strongest supporters of our schools. If you need some contact information or
further details, give us call!
