Our VISION:  Responsible and resourceful graduates rooted in faith and alive in Christ!

A fond and heartfelt “Good-bye and God be with you” to our eighth graders.  They will be graduating Tuesday evening after celebrating the Eucharist together for the last time in our beautiful church.  The seventh grade is hosting a reception for them in the Parish Center following the ceremony.  We will so miss them!  What great memories we all have to share.  Thank you, dear class, for sharing yourselves so generously and enthusiastically with us. Continue to be great St. Henry Hawks and “SOAR with the Lord!”

Mrs.Trimborn wants to encourage moms and dads to take some time to peruse the TABLES of LOST and FOUND items that are in the Parish Center lobby these next few days. Most things that are not claimed before the early dismissal on Wednesday will be taken to St. Vincent DePaul if they are in pretty good shape.  So it may be worth your while to check.  Or insist your children check. Also, next year’s kindergarten and sixth grade parents (this year’s preschool and fifth grade parents), please check your Friday envelopes for important information regarding some immunization changes that may affect your children.

A note from Mr. Bob Breunig, Basketball Director of the St. Henry Athletic Association :  Please make sure that you turn in your registration forms ASAP for athletics.  That’s one less thing to worry about once school starts in the fall.  Your son/daughter will not be able to participate until all fees are paid and all forms are turned in.  Teams are being formed by the League this summer based on the numbers we have. So please get those papers in early next week.

The updated supply lists for next year are being sent in the preschool through grade seven envelopes today.  Copies of them have been mailed to Shopko, Wal-Mart, and Walgreen’s.  They are also now available on the school section of the parish website at sainthenryparish.org.  Please note in the calendar that the BEFORE school MANDATORY meeting for parents will be on Thursday evening, August 28th.  It’ll begin in CHURCH with prayer and some words from Fr. Brian and myself and then move to the classrooms for two twenty-minute sessions with the teachers.

Have a terrific, safe  summer, All!  God bless you for your great support, generous giving,

good humor, and love.  Let’s keep making weekend Mass a priority this summer.

The Lord wants us there so we need to do that. We are Catholics!

“IT’S SO HARD TO SAY GOOD-BYE”

Wow!  Graduation is almost here.  It’s only a few days away.  I can’t believe how fast the time has gone.  The eighth graders have had an outstanding year, and I will truly miss seeing them around here next year.  We were certainly blessed to have had them at our school all these years.

As we were planning for our graduation, a student found this quote by Nelson Mandela.  He says, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”  I hope students take this to heart as they enter high school and look beyond to college.  Thank you, parents, for allowing me to teach your child.

The students have been diligently putting together an autobiography book that highlights events that have happened in their lives.  A few examples of entries in the book include writing on current fashion trends, what songs and movies are popular, and the important people in their lives, to name a few.  These books will definitely be fun to look at in ten years. They will be on display in the Parish Center following graduation.  I am amazed at the kind words students have written about their parents and family.  You may wish to check that out!

I hope each of you has a relaxing and enjoyable summer.  Good luck in high school next year, Graduates!

ZOO TRIP IS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE

It’s hard to believe that another year is almost over.  It has been a wonderful year.  We are taking some time to reminisce and fill our time capsule.

Some of our recent highlights will be remembered for some time to come.  Lucy the bear has been on many adventures with each of the second graders.  The pictures of her travels should be developed soon.

On Monday, the first and second graders visited the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison.  Each child researched a specific animal.  The second graders learned more about some lesser known animals, such as the red panda, rhea, muntjac, tapir, Colombus monkey, wallabie, and our own badger.  The red panda seemed to be everyone’s favorite.  We certainly want to thank all of our drivers and chaperones who made our trip possible.

We walked to the Watertown Public Library this Thursday afternoon.  We want to encourage daily reading (and math facts) over the summer.  Skills need to be retained and polished so everyone returns at or above the level they are at now. “Use it or lose it,” certainly applies to these developing skills.

I want to wish everyone a relaxing and enjoyable summer.  I’ll look forward to seeing you at Sunday Masses and other parish and community events.  Stay safe and be happy!

VOLUNTEERS FOR Monday’s Field Day, please note:  If weather is a concern, the decision whether or not to have the field day will be made by 9:00 am by the main organizers.  Please call school after that time to find out if there is any question.  Let’s hope for a lovely day!
