Our VISION: Responsible and resourceful graduates
rooted in faith and alive in Christ!
What
a great concert last night! Thank you, Mrs.
Oestreicher and all the choir and band members of St.
Henry and St. Bernard. VERY
enjoyable. Keep the music coming.
Most
of you will find a copy of your contract for the 2007-08 school year in
your envelope. It is for you to keep. School year 07-08, we’re already
planning for you!
Speaking of next year, 07-08 VOLLEYBALL physicals need to be into the school office BEFORE the end of the school year. VERY important. If have questions about that, please call Mrs. Garity at 261-9723. It’s OK to turn in physicals now if only playing basketball. But they are due in September.
As
most of you know the Home and School Association playground plan is to remove
all the rubber chips, power wash and re-varnish the equipment, and then put
down a base of pea gravel, mats that we have already, and then wood chips. So . . .we have some rubber chips to give
away but not much of a window for you to come get them. Here’s the deal.
After
the
As you probably read in the parish’s recent Bellringer article, teachers expressed some wish lists. We do have a donation for the eighth grade religion books. Great! Since the upper grade religion books are the most “meaty,” we sure would love to extend that gift to the other grades on the upper floor. Any parent(s) of a child’s grade willing to help?
Since we are in the wish list mode, thanks to a generous donation from the auction committee and another anonymous group, we probably do have enough money to buy and mount a good TV with a VCR and DVD players in seven or eight classrooms. How cool is that? Are there any carpenters who would donate the labor for the stands? Please contact us soon so we won’t go hiring someone! Be a great gift of your talents! We should have enough in the donation to pay for the materials. A crew of people would be wonderful. If we have to hire someone, we might have to cut back on a classroom. That would be a bummer.
TODAY,
all tuition aid applications were due for the school year 07-08. Would we accept yours if you brought it in
Monday? Yes, but after that the “well”
of available help may go low and there may not be much left to help. Our
tuition is actually comparatively low because of the generosity of our parish
and the sacrifices of our staff. Nonetheless, please let your conscience be
your guide and have the obligations of tuition and church support high on your
priority list. It’s an important moral,
ethical issue, don’t you think?
NOTES FROM KINDERGARTEN
As the year ends we have been reflecting on what we liked about
kindergarten. The children have learned
so much from learning to read, to count, to write, and how to become better
friends. Some of the children even said
that they enjoyed rest time. Please
continue to read and write with them during the summer.
We have also spent time talking about strangers, safe adults and
even special safe adults. At home
continue to talk with your child about checking first before they go with
anyone. Use “Charlie Check First” as
your guide. Officer Dave Gilbert did a
great job of going over the “rules” with us.
I would like to thank Mary Rothschadl
for speaking to the children on Career Day.
She did a nice job with the children.
Thank you to all of you parents for giving me the opportunity to
teach your child. What a fun group of
children. Enjoy your summer and stay
safe.

STUDENTS RESEARCH FAMILY HISTORY
Throughout the year the seventh grade has been studying US
history. We began in September reviewing
the Civil War and have finished our book studies of present day history. As the students worked their way through
Westward Expansion, wars, the Great Depression, Civil Rights, and other “cold”
topics, they also did a little research about their own family’s history. They began with a family tree and interviewing
a parent and a grandparent about their memories on different topics. The students worked on finding out more about
their birthday, what they wish to be when they grow up, and how they view
themselves. They also went searching for
ten “artifacts” that represent their family’s history. All of this information was put together and
bound into a book format for the students to enjoy and share in the
future. Thank you to all the family
members who helped make this project successful.
May God bless you all with a summer full of wonderful memories.
