Jesus said to his disciples,
“You are witnesses of these
things.”
Luke 24:48
Because it is so important, I will lead
with an important calendar item. If you would
like your present third, fourth, fifth, sixth, or seventh grader to participate
in any St. Henry sports next year (5-8 girls volleyball in the fall or 4-8
boys/girls basketball late fall and winter), we need you to register them now
because the League is setting up schedules within the next few months based on
the number of teams everyone will have next year. We can’t decide on the number of teams unless
we have accurate numbers on who will be playing next year. Hence the need for the registration now.
Two opportunities for you: the first one is after the weekend Masses
THIS Saturday and Sunday. Just come into
school after Mass through the courtyard door.
If you are out of town this weekend, it can be done in school this
Wednesday, April 29th between 3 and 7 pm.
If neither date is possible, please call school within the next couple
days, and we will get the message to the Athletic Association President so a
special time can be made to get that done.
However, as you can understand, it would make a big task a lot easier if
most get registration done at one of the two times offered above. THANKS so much.
Because we (humbly) think we are a superb
school that just keeps getting better and better, we need to keep working on
getting the word out. So . . . one idea
the faculty had is to ask you parents if you would be willing to write an
enthusiastic comment or paragraph or even a letter (!) in support of St. Henry
School – one that might encourage other parents whose children are not here to
at least be motivated to “Come and see!”
Could you do that? It would help
insure that St. Henry School is here for the Lord’s beloved children for
another 155 years! We would like you to
include a permission to use the whole or parts of it in marketing efforts with
or without your name. (Please be specific about the use or nonuse of your
name.) Any chance you could send that to
the office within the month? Would we
ever be grateful!
This might be a good time to remind
everyone about all the things that we collect that provide money or free gifts
to the school. But first, we dearly hope
that if you ever shop at any Pick n Save that you have signed up for their WE
CARE program.
If you haven’t, just ask how to do that
when you are there and tell them that you want St. Henry School of Watertown to
be the recipient of their rebate program.
Of course, using our Scrip program and buying food from Market Day are
other marvelous ways to contribute. The
present sales manager for Market Day informed me recently that since the St.
Henry Home and School Association began running the program here in 1992 over
$56,000 has been earned for the school!
How marvelous is that? Other great ways to help:
Campbell’s labels – it’s that small section
around the UPC/bar code label,
the
Box Tops for Education labels,
the
Milk Moola and Kemp’s Nickels for Schools MILK bottle caps,
and
used-up ink and laser printer cartridges.
Most of these things can be brought to
school or left in a box in the Cady Street vestibule of the church.
Two other “neat” programs are ordering or
reordering magazine subscriptions at www.QSP.com and using our school code
425901369. The last one coming to mind
is a program at Target in which you can designate our school for a rebate. May
be more that I’m forgetting just now. But, except for Market Day, none of the
above cost you any extra money – just a tiny bit of time with BIG benefits to
the children here. Thanks for taking
that time – and possible spreading the word to relatives and friends who would
be happy to do some of the above too.
St. Bernard’s is inviting all of us to a
BUNCO Night this Monday, April 27th, from 7-10 pm with check in at 6:30. Cost of the event is $20, which includes
appetizers. The site is Rock River Pizza
at 100 Madison Street. Please call Ursula Yaeggi at
262-3131 to reserve yourself a spot since space is limited. (Sounds fun.)
