“My sheep hear my voice;
I know them and they follow
me.”
John 10: 27s
I am sure that I am not alone in wanting to
compliment both the sixth graders in their rendition of Ivanhoe and the grade
5-8 band students who performed in one or more of the ten ensembles last
Wednesday morning. Thank you so much
students (and teachers and parent supporters) for all your efforts. So much budding talent and great
teamwork. Delightful, delightful!
Moms and Dads, if you have children in
grades 3-7 that next school year MIGHT want to participate in the St. Henry
Athletic fall volleyball program (girls in grades 5-8) or the late fall-winter
basketball program (boys and girls in grades 4-8) you need to register them
either after one of the three Masses this weekend OR between 3-5 pm this coming
Wednesday, the 28th. The weekend
registrations will be in the school’s first floor hallway. Wednesday’s registration
will be in the Parish Center (gym) hallway.
Registrations that come in later are subject to an additional $20 late
fee. Because of league requirements, no
further volleyball registrations – late or not -- can be accepted after June
11; no basketball registrations can be accepted after Friday, September 3. The reason for the late fees between next
Wednesday and June 11 (or September 3) is that our Athletic board has to make
decisions soon as to the number of teams and number of coaches needed. Most sports programs have similar late fees
and deadlines for basically the same reasons
Teachers would like me to plead with you to
“just say no” to your children to wearing flip flops to school. This better outside weather encourages
children to RUN and play at recess. Flip
flops are not so good for running!
Occasionally when a teacher senses her class needs a little exercise
break to refresh minds and bodies she will take them to the gym or outside for
a little impromptu run to shake off spring lethargy (or its opposite, wired
excitement). Again, flip flops hamper that worthwhile goal. Their negatives seem to outweigh their
positives, don’t you think?
Is there any fairly computer-comfortable
parent (or grandparent) out there able to donate some hours to finish up a
little library inventory work this spring?
One (or two) people could put that project to rest in either a solid day
or two or by giving it a few hours a week.
Any chance someone reading this just thought, “I could do that and might
even enjoy it!” Great. Give us a
call. We’ll train. Promise.
