“Thoroughly wash me from my guilt, and of my sin cleanse me.”

                             Psalm 51:  vs. 4

LEARN HOW to HELP KEEP YOUR CHILDREN SAFE!   This coming TUESDAY evening, March 22, there will be a program specifically FOCUSED on PARENTS from the same company that many dioceses use nation-wide for parish employees and volunteers.  Both Mr. Weissenborn  (Religious Education Coordinator and Youth Ministry Director) and I will be moderators.  We KNOW you will immediately gain useful insights and information that will, indeed, support your God-given responsibility to do all you reasonably can to keep your youngsters safe.  The workshop will be held in the Rectory Hall (priest’s house basement), and will begin at 6:30 pm.  It should take about two hours.  We urge at least one parent to make a strong effort to attend.

From the HASA board:

We are in need of volunteers to fill HASA positions open for the 2011-2012 school year.  A number of this year’s members are unable to continue next year and we need these positions filled.  Open positions are Vice President and various classroom representatives.  Please consider gaining your service hours in one of these very important roles.  HASA meetings are only held once a month on the second Monday evening of each month during the school year.  Very little time is necessary to have a strong voice in your school.  If you have any questions or concerns, contact President Julie Krahn at s.krahn@sbcglobal.net or 206-1948.  Thank you for your time and support!

From Erin Meyer, Summer School Director

Dear Parochial Families ~

Thank you for your promptness in filling out the summer school registration forms.  We are currently getting all your information updated in our school database.  For those of you returning to summer school, you already have a login and password.  If you have misplaced or forgotten it, please email Sharon at zastrows@watertown.k12.wi.us  with your child’s name and your current email address.  Families new to summer school this year will be notified of their login/password.  If you have any questions at all, please feel free to call Andi at (920)925-3712.  Thank you.

Last week you received a request for donations to use as prizes for the HASA Spring Celebration Friday, March 25.  Please have them in the office by Monday, the 21st.   This should be a fun evening of games, crafts, and camaraderie for the 4K through grade 5 families.  Many thanks to those who have already brought items in.

Some interesting statistics recently out from the DPI (Department of Public Instruction).  Our diocesan superintendent, Mr. Lancaster, recently shared this information in an email to the principals.

Statewide, 41.4% of all students qualify for free/reduced lunch.  This is up from 29.5% in 2003-2004.

In the Madison metro area, 51% of all students qualify, and in Beloit, 76% of all students qualify.

Other areas in Dane County average around 25% of students qualifying

Areas of the Diocese outside of Dane County average around 40%-45% of all students qualifying.
