“Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you…

for if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?”

                                                                   Matt 5: 44 & 46

Many of you will see have seen the note that was sent home yesterday or, if you weren’t here, will be able to read it along with this newsletter.  Let me say here too, we are very sorry for all the confusion.  To avoid any in the future, the general rule of thumb will be that for WEATHER-related reasons, we will follow the public school’s lead on closings and/or early dismissals.  (They have to make the busing decisions.)  Otherwise, assume we will have school if it’s on our calendar.  That includes the 4K classes since they are held at our site.  Buses will run for all of the parochial school riders.

Although the snow is melting at an incredible rate, it feels a little like Christmas in the office.  Thanks to the proceeds garnered from the HASA book sale in the fall, we were able to purchase almost 50 new books for the library -- and they came.  They should be ready for check out by the end of next week.  We know they will fly out of here into the hands of our many avid readers.  Thank you again, all of you who worked at and/or participated in the sale.

Just a reminder that the new regulations regarding the giving out of medications in schools go into effect as of March 1st.  We can only give out medications – prescription or over-the-counter -- that are in original containers provided by the parents with all the required paperwork filled out and turned in.  If you have any questions, please just give us a call.

I greeted the Dare teacher, Officer Stacy Schroeder, as she was coming in for her weekly, second semester class with the fifth graders the other afternoon.  It reminded me of a bit of humor relayed by another of her colleagues-in blue.

It was the end of the day when I parked my police van in front of the station. As I gathered my equipment, my K-9 partner, Jake, was barking, and I saw a little boy staring in at me. “Is that a dog you got back there?” he asked. “It sure is,” I replied.  Puzzled, the boy looked at me and then towards the back of the van. Finally he said, “What'd he do?”

Have you ever wondered, “Why do Catholics have a pope anyway?”   Do we have a CD for you!  It gives the historical and Biblical roots of the papacy.  Shares what does the church mean by the pope being “infallible” and what it does NOT mean.  It’s a well-balanced, academically-sound treatment of the topic for adults, and I would be happy to lend it to you for a couple of weeks.  Great for both Catholics  – who are a little fuzzy themselves in their understanding – and for interested non-Catholics.  Please don’t hesitate to ask for it.  By the way, most people find the speaker (Dr. Scott Hahn) almost always clear, easy to listen to, and even entertaining.
