Saint Henry Catholic School “Soaring with the Lord!” 300 E. Cady Street · Watertown, WI

“It
is due to Him (God) that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us
wisdom from God,
as well as righteousness,
sanctification, and redemption,
so that, as it is written, ‘Whoever
boasts, should boast in the Lord.’”
The NATIONAL celebration of Catholic
Schools Week is almost upon us. It
begins officially on Sunday with the theme
“Catholic Schools A+ for America.”
On the back I invite you to read the Governor’s official proclamation
for the state of Wisconsin. It has some
interesting, beautiful, and very true statements of what we are all about. I, and my fellow staff members, feel very
privileged indeed to be partners with you in this great mission.
With this newsletter you will see an invite
for this coming Thursday’s annual (and traditional for St. Henry) Catholic Schools’ Week’s “Parents’ Night Out.” We hope to see many of you there. It will be a good time to relax with your
fellow parents and enjoy the faculty members in an entirely different
environment. Please return the invite
this Monday so our great chefs can estimate how much of their delicious food
they will need to make.
We hope many of you are planning to attend
our first “Hey, Look Us Over” Middle School Night this Monday, the 31st. If you have a child in the fourth grade, this
will be especially pertinent for you but any and all are welcome. We are planning a relaxed but informative
time in the Parish Center with a few graduates, the Middle School faculty, and
a few parents of graduates, followed with a chance to visit with specific
faculty members in their classrooms.
Bring a parent friend or two. It
all begins at 6:30 pm. It will take
perhaps a half hour or so in the PC, and then everyone will be free to roam and
get their questions answered.
Fr. Brian wanted to let you know that
Wednesday, February 2nd, is a
traditional feast in the church calendar often called CANDLEMAS Day. He will be blessing candles at the 8:15
Mass. You are welcome to bring before
Mass begins any candles you would like blessed to the table that will be
provided for them in the sanctuary before the ambo/lectern used for Scripture
readings. Love to have you join us for
Mass anyway during this special week.
An invitation from the St. Henry/St.
Bernard GIFT Group:
The 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off & Stump The
Priests Night will be held in St. Henry's Parish Center on Saturday, Feb. 26th
after the 4:00 p.m. Mass. We are still
looking for 4-6 cooks willing to show off their best chili recipes, as well as
some outstanding bakers willing to prepare cookies, bars, or other
desserts. Volunteers are also needed to
help that evening, and of course we will need PLENTY of folks to taste all the
yummy foods that night! After the
competition, Father Brian and Monsignor Dan will be answering your questions
about the Catholic faith, and providing some information on the upcoming
changes to the Mass. Call Ginny
(261-6079) or Marge (262-9776) to sign up or for more details. Bring your appetites and your questions and
join us for a fun-filled evening!
