A Happy New Year filled with many of God’s best blessings for you and all your loved ones!

Right before the holidays I shared the names of all the children in grades 4-8 who had done so well in their classroom National Geography bees.  On Wednesday, the 6th, ten of those children participated in the school version with their classmates and teachers as audience.  Our runner up for the school is seventh grader, Sarah Wagner.  Our first place winner is eighth grade student, Jessica Mallow.  Congratulations, Jessica, and good luck on the next rung of the contest.

A note from Lynn Miller, a HASA chair of the pre-holiday Kraemer Cheese fundraiser:

The Kringle and Kraemer’s Cheese Fundraiser raised $2,409 for HASA.  Thanks to all those who placed orders.  Also, thank you to the moms that helped with the sorting and distributing of the product on Friday -- Ann Mallow, Joy Caine, Connie Kurth, Katie Schroeder, and Sherri Counsell.  Also, a special thank you to Michelle Uecker for taking care of the Kringle portion of the fundraiser and collecting the money.  Thank you, Mrs. Trimborn, for your help in the office end of the fundraiser.

We need a new HASA representative for the preschool (4K) starting this month.  Thank you, Ryan Kurth, for taking on that task for the previous months this year.  If you are interested in that service, please come to the meeting next Monday, the 11th.  Just a reminder:  any parent is welcome at any HASA meeting any time.  You do not have to be on the board.  Any school parent who does come may vote, if there are some voting matters on the agenda.  You will find an agenda for this upcoming meeting in this week’s packet.  As a special little bonus, attendance at any HASA meeting is time that may be added to the required fifteen service hours for the families with K-8 children.

As many of you know, both Mrs. Anderson (fourth grade homeroom) and Mrs. Harms (eighth grade homeroom) have been expecting brand new little ones.  Well, Mrs. Anderson, with an impeccable sense of timing, delivered Sawyer Matthias shortly before 1:00 am on Christmas morning.  Mom and baby doing well.  Mrs. Harms is hoping her day is drawing very nigh.  Thank you for keeping them in your prayers.  Many of you also probably heard that my husband Tom was taken to the hospital on December 22nd with pneumonia and a serious lung infection.  Thank you for your prayers for him.  Although as I write this he is still there, things are looking up.  He may even be transferred soon to a local nursing home to finish up his rehabilitation.  From this print to God’s ear!
