Court of Honor held for
Boy Scout Troop 43
Boy Scout Troop 43 of
Watertown held its Court of Honor recently.
During the opening
ceremony, special recognition went to Scoutmaster Don Leu, who has been
involved in the Cub and Boy Scout program since 1990. Leu was also honored for serving as
Scoutmaster of Troop 43 for more than six years.
Awards and gifts from the
Scouts and parents were presented in appreciation for the time, dedication and
commitment he has given the troop for so many years. Leu and his wife, Bonnie, have accepted new
positions as Eagle Board of Review chairpersons for the Sunset Waters District.
More than 50 badges,
eight rank advancements and other awards to 18 Scouts were presented by Senior
Patrol Leader Nathan Dondlinger, advancement
chairwoman Bonnie Leu, Scoutmasters Don Leu and Tim Rice, and assistant
Scoutmasters Deanna Bruso and Bruce Cypher.
The Scout rank was
earned by Joshua Cornell, Dan Meyer and Samuel Neils.
Tenderfoot ranks were presented to Michael Christian and Tyler Rice. Josh
Cutting and Sam Yerges earned first class rank and
Roger Cypher earned the star rank. All of these Scouts had a Scoutmaster
conference and a board of review conducted by the committee members of the
troop.
While at Camp Tomahawk
Reservation this past summer, Scouts Roger Cypher and Eric Doubet
and assistant Scoutmaster Dave Doubet were indicted
into the Order of the Arrow.
Receiving merit badges
were Michael Christian for mammal study; Tyler Clemmons for home repairs and
metalwork; Joshua Cornell for mammal study; Josh Cutting for archery, camping,
climbing, metalwork and woodwork; Roger Cypher for camping, environmental
science, lifesaving and mile swim BSA; Nathan Dondlinger
for climbing and wilderness survival; Eric Doubet for
archery and emergency preparedness; Dan Jurczyk for
fishing; Dan Meyer for mammal study, metalwork, weather and wood carving;
Samuel Neils for mammal study, plumbing and wood
carving; Ryan Rice for mammal study, plumbing and wilderness survival; Tyler
Rice for first aid, plumbing and wilderness survival; Beau Ruehlow
for environmental science, fishing, orienteering, plumbing and wilderness
survival; Brandon Ruehlow for climbing, emergency
preparedness, environmental science, metalwork and wilderness survival; Jarod
Von Rueden for camping, climbing, lifesaving,
metalwork and wilderness survival; Dan Yerges for
mammal study, metalwork and wood carving; Sam Yerges
for climbing, electricity, horsemanship and woodwork; and Steven Zehnder for
electricity and home repairs.
Polar Bear awards were
presented to Joshua Cornell, Roger Cypher, Nathan Dondlinger,
Eric Doubet, Samuel Neils,
Tyler Rice and Jarod Von Rueden.
Adults also receiving
the award were Hiram Cutting, Bruce and Tammy Cypher, Dave and Deb Doubet, Bill Meyer, Tim Rice and Paul Yerges.
Boy Scout Troop 43 is
chartered by St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Meetings are held every Tuesday
evening in the lower level of the school.
