Grace A. Werner

1925 - 2005

 

Grace A. Werner, 79, of Watertown, died February 28, 2005, at Marquardt Memorial Manor.

 

Funeral services were at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. David K. Groth officiating.  Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

 

The former Grace Fenz was born July 4, 1925, in Watertown, daughter of Warren and Anna (Frey) Fenz. She married Merle Werner on May 19, 1984, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

 

Grace did cleaning for a number of private homes and businesses in Watertown.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown.  She enjoyed dancing, traveling, music, gardening, flowers and baking.

 

Surviving were her husband, Merle; two sisters, Marion Gillis of Watertown and Ruby Zilmer of Juneau; one brother-in-law, Leon Werner of Johnson Creek; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Fenz of Watertown and LuAnna Fenz of Juneau; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Walter and Frank Fenz.

 

Merle E. Werner

1928 - 2018

 

Merle E. Werner, 89, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Patrick Wendler officiating.  Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. 

 

Merle Edwin Werner was born on April 29, 1928, the son of Ernest and Marie (nee Snell) Werner.  He was a 1947 graduate of Johnson Creek High School.  On May 19, 1984, he was united in marriage to Grace Fenz at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown.  She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2005.  Merle drove semi for Hartwig's Poultry in Johnson Creek and Loeb Metal Recycling in Watertown.  He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown.  Merle enjoyed bowling and playing cards and was an avid Milwaukee Brewer and Green Bay Packer fan.  He was a member of the Johnson Creek Fire Department for many years.

 

He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Merle was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He was further preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Francis (Ruth), Leon and Melvin Werner.
