Loraine A. Schmutzler
1928 - 2017
Loraine A. Schmutzler, 88, of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, May
25, 2017, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
Loraine was born to
Eric and Selma Riedeman on Nov. 21, 1928, and lived
in Watertown her entire life. After
graduating from Watertown High School, Loraine married Donald Schmutzler. Loraine and Don were blessed with three
children, Dean, Sandra and Holly. Loraine was active in St. Mark’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church, as well as other civic organizations. She loved doting on her grandchildren, and was
“Big Grandma” to them as well as her great-grandchildren. S he
enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing golf, and was quite proud of her
“hole-in-one.”
Surviving are one
son, Dean (Mary) Schmutzler of Cecil; two daughters,
Sandi (Bob) Benzel of Oconomowoc and Holly (Scott) Villwock of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Oshkosh; and
grandchildren, Lynn (Matt) Rotter of Green Bay, Tracy Kidd of De Pere, Stacy
(Justin) Brown of Carlsbad, California, Bridget (Ryan) Engel of Port
Washington, Brett (Allisha) Villwock
of New Port Richey, Florida, and Chad Villwock of
Orlando, Florida. Also surviving are
Loraine’s beloved great-grandchildren Lily and Finn Rotter, Fiona and Dylan
Brown, and Landon and Autumn Villwock.
Among those who
preceded Loraine in death are her parents; her husband, Don, a World War II
Army Air Corps veteran who died in 2011; and her
brother, Harvey Riedeman, who died in 1945 as a
Japanese prisoner of war. Riedemann-Thompson Post No. 35, AMVETS is named after her
brother.
Funeral services for
Loraine will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church with the Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill
Cemetery. Family and friends may
call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
