Oliver “Ozzy” H. Kirscher, 90, of Watertown, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at his home.
Oliver Hugo Kirscher was born on Nov. 22, 1917, in Van Meter, Iowa, son of Joseph and Anna (Schnitger) Kirscher. He married Esther May Barden in Rockford, Ill., in 1959.
Ozzy had been employed in the scrap yard at Loeb's in Watertown for 18 years and had been an independent contractor. He was very involved and loved the local steam engine tractor shows and airplane shows.
He is survived by his children, Janice Kusick of Wisconsin Rapids, Christine Van De Mark of Colorado Springs, Colo., a stepdaughter, Cheryl (Mike) McGuern of Adams, a stepson, Willard (Gloria) Strache of Worthington, Minn., Carolyn (Butch) Gleason of Bagdad, Ky., Peter (Rosie) Kirscher of Portage, Cindy (Richard) Wilcox of Huron, S.D., Peggy (Tom) Sumpter of Adams, Oliver (Kathy) Kirscher Jr. of Huron and Jessica (Ross) Morrison of Pocahontas, Ark.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Ozzy was preceded in death by his parents and his loving companion, Elsie Morrison.
A funeral service will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Friday at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Robert Loggans of Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
