The Benes' Studio at 409 Main
Street is under new ownership and management today, according to announcement
made this morning. The new owner is Ellsworth Griffin. He will operate under
the name of the Benes' Studio for the present. Mr. Griffin, who was granted his
city photographer's license by the City Council last night, is originally from
Freeport, Ill. He has been in photography for ten years, having worked for a
number of well known Illinois and Iowa photographers. He is a graduate of the
Winona School of Photography.

Winners in the third annual child
personality contest conducted by the Griffin Studio have been announced. First
place winner was Ricky Ebert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ebert, 1516 River
Drive; second place, Maureen Mason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Mason,
route 6, and Carl Beyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Beyer, 1404 South Tenth
Street. The following are runner-up winners and were awarded $5 each: David Schuelke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schuelke;
David Yarges, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Yarges; Timmie Tiemann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Tiemann;
Freddie Gauerke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Gauerke; Nicky Runge, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Don Runge; Faith Ann Zimmerman, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Zimmerman.
