August Fuermann Jr. Home

Ron & Sally Greve Home

500 South Third Street   (s.w. corner 3rd and Spring streets)

Former home of August Fuermann

The Greve Home, built in 1893, is on the National Register of Historic Places.  The old Victorian style home is in pristine condition, with original woodwork, hardwood floors, and stained glass and leaded windows.  One set of pocket doors also has leaded, beveled glass panes.

The dining room has a built-in breakfront with beveled, curved glass doors.  A fireplace with over-mantel is in the front parlor.  An open stairway leads to the second floor.  In combination with the stairway, there is a built-in bench in the entryway.

All furniture and accessories are antique.  The house will be decorated for the holidays with a large live tree trimmed with antique ornaments.  All the decorations and holiday collections are vintage to antique in age.  Christmas Past is represented throughout the house.

Watertown Couple Collect

Antique Christmas Decorations

Watertown Daily Times, 12 23 2006

Antiques play a special role in Ron and Sally Greve's holiday season celebration. The Watertown couple enjoy searching for all types of antiques but have found a special interest in antique Christmas decorations.

The Greves have been collecting antique tree ornaments for the past 45 years, all but the first five years of their married life. Ron said he's not sure exactly how many antique ornaments they own but estimates it's near 500.
